Bike Sumter County Map

Our Bike Sumter County map identifies various bicycle routes of different lengths throughout the county to guide both the novice and more experienced road rider. In addition to identifying routes, the map provides basic bicycle maintenance information, safety tips and rules of the road for bicyclists and motorists. Printed maps are free and available to the public at the SCAL office at the Sumter County Recreation and Parks Department, 155 Haynsworth Street in Sumter or by calling (803) 774-3860. If you are interested in displaying our maps, please let us know.

Bicycle and Pedestrian Plans

SCAL's bicycle and pedestrian plans are presentations of what we have been doing, and plan to do, to achieve an active, bicycle-friendly and pedestrian community environment in Sumter County. We hope the documents are a useful resource for all groups working to create an active community environment.

Volunteer Walk Leader Manual

Developed originally for a special SCAL neighborhood walk groups project, our walk leader manual is available as a resource for other community walk groups projects.

Sumter County Walk Map

SCAL's pocket-size map features 16 walking routes that will lead walkers along sidewalks, walking paths, wooded trails and paved walking tracks in various locations in Sumter County. Walkers can enjoy local history, nature, sights and sounds of the county as they are walking for health and leisure. Printed copies of the walk map are available in limited amounts at the SCAL office at 155 Haynsworth Street in Sumter or by calling (803) 774-3860. "Share the Road" Video

This local video production is a component of SCAL's "Share the Road" campaign for Sumter County. SCAL members, partners, friends and community residents inform viewers of the rules of the road for bicyclists and motorists and the environmental supports in place to help bicyclists and motorists safely share the roads.
